The Ultimate Grilled Cheese – Northern Soul

There are few things in life as simple or as beautiful as a grilled cheese. It’s nice when you make one at home. It’s even better when Northern Soul make one for you.

They’ve taken the simplest of dishes and turned it into a revolution; whether you’re going for a classic grilled cheese or one of their immense concoctions you’re not going to be disappointed; they’ll be some of the best sandwiches you’ve had.

(Sorry, we’ve changed phones since we visited, so have lost the photos but check out what we had on our Instagram; Grilled Cheese & Milkshake. We swear this isn’t us doing a shameless plug for our Instagram; but if you want to follow while you’re over there, that would be great!)

Part street food vender, part casual dining, you won’t find many spaces like Northern Soul; it offers a really relaxed environment full of people simply enjoying great food. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff really makes you feel welcome and at home in the cosy space.

As well as their grilled cheese sandwiches they also offer a great selection of mac’n’cheese and some to-die-for shakes. Who knew cheese and milkshake could go so well together! Whatever they’re putting into their secret 3 cheese blend (probably cheese, right?) they’re doing it right!

Just like Northern Soul, we’re going to keep this simple and to the point; Northern Soul is great! They offer fantastic, simple, belly filling, heart warming comfort food that I’m sat here craving as I write. Does it need anymore words than that?

The Highs:
The 3 cheese blend. In a grilled sandwich. Stuffed with lots and lots of goodness.
Plus some killer milkshakes.

The Lows:
Although they’ve expanded they’re premises, if you don’t get in their quick you might miss out on a seat during they’re busy times. Also if there’s a bit of a breeze then it can get a bit chilly in the relatively open seating area. (But this is street food so we can’t really complain!)

Back Again?
A perfect lunch time meal at a great price for what you’re getting; if I’m hungry for lunch and I’m in Manchester, I’ll be heading to Northern Soul.
