The Northern Quarter Restaurant

The Northern Quarter has become a hive of quirky, cool and individual bars; a place for people who don’t want the run of the mill, people who want to experience something different, and,for want of a (much) better word; for ‘Hipsters’.

There’s a lot to take in as you walk through the NQ with each place trying to be the next ‘thing’, so it would be easy to overlook the subtle restaurant that is TNQ. But you shouldn’t over look it, you definitely, definitely shouldn’t.

TNQ swaps quirky decor for cool and sophisticated style that’s simple and satisfying; not to mention the huge Star Wars picture is one of the coolest things we’ve seen in a long time. TNQ doesn’t use the tricks, eccentricity’s or gags that some places use to hook in customers; instead it just cooks some of the best food you’re going to taste. And no we aren’t exaggerating! It’s that good!

They have an ever changing, seasonal menu which means there’s always something new and innovative to try when you visit. With such a constantly changing array of food it’s a real testiment to the chef that evey single dish has real quality. All of the dishes are meticulously thought out, beautifully balanced and expertly  plated.

And the food will be served by some of the best servers you’ll come across. Friendly, professional and just the right level of attentive; the service matches the quality of the food which is always great to find; too many would-be-good places are let down by poor service.

If all that wasn’t enough they also run one of the best offers in the city; ‘Happy Monday’s & Thirsty Thursdays.’ 3 Courses and unlimited house wine for £29.50, could you ask for more? Each course only has three choices but when the courses are this good, and they’re that price,  you can’t go wrong.

We can’t rave about TNQ enough! It’s become one of our favourite places (and that’s saying something!) A truly great place that remembers and delivers on what’s really important; amazing food, a fantastic ambience and  impeccable service. Can’t say no to that.

The Highs:
Did you just read the review? Everything was a high point! The food, the decor, the service, that Star Wars poster! Everything!
Especially the ‘Thirsty Thursdays’ because you can’t beat unlimited wine!

The Lows:
The only slight lows, and we’re scrapping the barrel here, is that the Express Menu only runs till 6:30pm and there are some great sounding dishes on there we really want to try but we keep missing the cutoff!
Also the portion sizes can vary quite a bit so unless you know the dish you can be unsure how much you’re getting. That said the food is cooked so perfectly, it’s not about the quantity.

Back Again?
We’ve already been back and will continue to do so!
